There was one major jewelry trend dazzling at the 80th Annual Academy Award’s red carpet – diamonds, diamond and more diamonds. There was also one notable ‘can’t be with us tonight’ jewel – necklaces. The stars that did bedeck and bedazzle the necks did so with some incredible pieces that were truly spotlight stealers, but the majority of Hollywood’s gorgeous chose instead to keep the collar-bones bare and keep the attention above the neck.
The gowns draped, shimmered and screamed haute couture as the stars put on the ritz for what turned out to be one of the most glamorous Oscars’ in recent years.
Oscar Presenter, Nicole Kidman easily won the award for diamond look of the evening. She wore an extraordinary rough and polished Diamond Sautoir Necklace designed by L’Wren Scott, containing a total of 7645 Diamonds weighing a whopping 1400 carats.
Color of the evening went to Ms. Red. Pillarbox red dominated many of the dress, with stars such as Heidi Klum even piling on the red gems for a head-to-toe scarlet woman look. Perfecting not only the color of the evening, but also style of the evening – the one-shoulder look was a radiant Katherine Heigl.
Jessica Alba, Anne Hathaway and Helen Mirren all shined brilliantly in attention-grabbing Diamond Earrings, in an assortment of styles. While Amy Ryan, Jennifer Hudson, Olivia Thirlby, and other starlets all modeled the perfect pairing of dazzling Diamond Drop Earrings and Diamond Bracelets.
Helen Mirren, last year’s Oscar winner for Best Actress chose to have diamonds literally all the way up her arm. She wore a stunning red dress with diamonds up both the sleeves of her gown. Off-setting her diamond arms were some H.Stern Hebe earrings with more than 18 carats of fancy cut diamonds set in 18K Noble Gold and this season’s must have, a diamond floral ring with more than 10 carats of diamonds.
