The Jewelry Insider

Jewelry fashion lit up the red carpet at the 2009 Academy Awards with statement makers, diamond divas and plenty of Oscar gold.

Many thought the economy would keep Hollywood’s A-list from giving viewers a fashion escape on the red carpet, but the stars came out to shine and shine bright!

The show’s big Statement Makers included a fiery Amy Adams in a lobster bib-sized Fred Leighton gemstone statement necklace from the 1950s. Fellow nominee, Taraji P. Henson, sparkled in a vintage diamond flower necklace – also from Fred Leighton. Mamma Mia’s, Amanda Seyfried, made her Oscar red carpet debut in orange Valentino and yet another Fred Leighton stunner. And, of course, our winner of the night, Angelina Jolie, dazzled in Lorraine Schwartz emerald drop earrings with a matching gumball-sized emerald cocktail ring.

The Oscars always brings out Classic Diamond Glamour, and our favorite icy looks included Heidi Klum, who rocked $900,000 worth of Lorraine Schwartz diamond jewels, Oscar-winner Penelope Cruz in $3 million of Chopard diamonds, Marisa Tomei in a stunning vintage diamond ensemble from Van Cleef & Arpels, and a glowing Anne Hathaway, who sparkled in a 9.6 carat Cartier princess-cut diamond worth a whopping $735,000. Her ring was worn with diamond swirl earrings, a diamond watch bracelet, triple and double row bracelets, a diamond pave ring and a $150,000 diamond sunburst brooch.

Oscar’s Golden Girls included a stunning Viola Davis in a gold Reem Acra gown and a series of stunning diamond cuffs, a glowing Beyonce in yellow-gold diamond leaf Lorraine Schwartz rings, and Virginia Madsen in yellow gold drop statement earrings. And let’s not forget the night’s big winner, Kate Winslet, who might have worn Chopard diamond jewels – but got to bring home her Oscar gold!

The big show may be over, but you can continue to bask in the glow with Oscar looks all your own. Visit our Celebrity Style section with a click right here and see how easy it is to get the same Oscar A-list looks – for a lot, lot less.
