Julia Roberts made a glorious return to the red carpet this week at the
London premiere of her new film, Duplicity.
Wearing a basic black pants suit and classic
yellow gold hoops, the glowing mother-of-three was taken aback by the size and
enthusiasm of the crowd that had gathered to cheer for her and co-star, Clive
Asked by People Magazine how it felt to be on the red carpet after
being a stay-at-home mom for several years, Roberts said, “Just terrifying,
awful. It’s scary out there – but it’s nice.”
She even confessed her insecurity about her fashion choices.
“I’ve put on three different outfits to come here tonight, three!”
Roberts, who last year starred in Charlie Wilson’s War, says being back in
the spotlight isn’t what she craves.
“I don’t have the bug to work, I have the bug to make good movies and those
don’t come along very often,” she said.
Co-star Clive Owen had to coax her out of retirement for this film – and it
took a while.
“I [took] her out for lunch and told her that I’d read a script that was
dynamite and it would be great for the two of us to do it,” he said at the
premiere. “She was actually pregnant, so I had to wait another year before she
finally read it and said yes.”
Maybe she’ll get used to the spotlight again and start taking more risks in
front of the camera – and in the fashion department. But, for now, we’ll take
classic Julia while we can get it.
