Yellow gold jewelry makes a splash this season as celebrities go for the gold at awards shows, premieres and parties alike.

Yellow and white gold are like a dueling pair of best girl friends. One year, white gold gets the spotlight; the next, it’s yellow that gets a chance to shine – but no matter who is on top at the moment, you can’t help but love them both (even if you have a personal favorite).

This spring it’s mellow yellow that’s taking the stage as the A-list steps out to awards shows, premieres and parties in the season’s favorite golden hue.

While the economy is keeping many stars away from big diamond looks, stylists are focusing instead on yellow gold to give their famous clients a little sparkle without going over the top.

Drew Barrymore dazzled the crowd outside the David Letterman show this week in a stunning pair of yellow gold flower earrings to complement her Giambattista Valli dress. And Bravo’s The A-List Awards were glittering in gold as stars like Kathy Griffin, Jenny McCarthy and Mila Jovovich rocked the look on the red carpet.

Celebrities with their own jewelry lines are using yellow gold to bring their shimmering visions to life. Top Chef’s Padma Lakshmi is using the metal on her food-inspired gems, and Tori Spelling’s new line for HSN is littered with big chunky yellow gold styles – from rings and cuffs to necklaces and drops.

Yellow gold’s popularity will only shine brighter in the weeks to come, as Jewelry.com and the
World Gold Council celebrate May Is Gold Month – starting today. We’re offering amazing savings on gold jewelry styles from our partnering retailers in addition to an exclusive sweepstakes where you can enter to win your favorite gold jewelry style.

With Mother’s Day, graduation, prom, and wedding season right around the corner, we can’t think of a better way to shine your way into summer than with a little splash of gold – in any color.
