Tasteful jewelry looks littered the red carpet for the annual White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington, DC this weekend as politicians, journalists and celebrities stepped out in their black-tie best.

The event featured a side-splitting speech by President Obama, who joked about his wife’s right to ‘bare arms’ and Dick Cheney’s new memoir, “How to Shoot Friends and Interrogate People”. And the chuckles kept coming as featured comedienne, Wanda Sykes, kidded Obama about his basketball skills, cool demeanor and verbally challenged VP pick.

But the jewelry looks were no laughing matter as celebrities like Demi Moore, Eva Longoria, Natasha Bedingfield and Mariska Hargitay dazzled in diamond statement earrings.

Other stars took a more classic route with Natalie Portman and Tyra Banks sporting simple studs and Elizabeth Banks and Padma Lakshmi glittering in gold.

But the evening’s biggest jewelry star had to be First Lady, Michelle Obama, who lit up the room in her magenta Michael Kors dress and stunning diamond and gemstone flower statement necklace.

It’s refreshing to see a different first-lady look other than pearls and pants suits at these events, right?

And if you want a pinch of pink for your own jewelry box, Jewelry.com has a stunning selection of blushing gemstone styles from flowery designs to necklaces that will make a shining statement at your next cocktail party.
