Bulgari celebrated their 125th Anniversary with the first retrospective in the brand’s history on May 20th at the prestigious Il Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome.
Stars like Jessica Alba, Ginnifer Goodwin, Chloe Sevigny, and Jason Lewis joined 1500 of Europe’s elite for an exclusive preview of the exhibit titled, “Between History and Eternity: 1884-2009”.
Over five hundred spectacular works of jewelry, watchmaking and objets d’art were displayed in eight chronological galleries – some pieces belonging to the Bulgari Archives, others loaned by private collectors.
The galleries feature late 19th century silver works, Art Deco jewels, jewelry of the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s, and a special room dedicated to the most magnificent creations of the new millennium, including a jaw-dropping diamond necklace valued at over 20 million euros.
But the exhibit’s crown jewel? An entire room reserved for Elizabeth Taylor’s personal Bulgari
collection: sixteen extraordinary, one-of-a-kind pieces of enormous value, each with its own story, including the diamond and 18ct emerald brooch that Richard Burton gave Taylor as an engagement present in 1962.
“Celebrating 125 years of activity is a significant achievement that few companies, whether in Italy or abroad, can claim,” Francesco Trapani, CEO of the Bulgari Group said in a press release.
And celebrate they did. With the mayor of Rome hosting the soiree and guests partying well into the Italian night, 125 years of excellence never looked this good.
“Between History and Eternity: 1884-2009” is open to the public until September 13th, 2009.
