The 2009 BET Awards entertained audiences last night with show-stopping musical numbers, inspirational tributes and lots of Michael Jackson-inspired fashion. From one-gloved evening gowns to Beat It jackets and concert Ts, the red carpet was positively ‘thrilling’.

The three-hour show honored stars like Beyonce, who dazzled fans with a colorful Balmain mini and huge turquoise hoops. Alicia Keys won for ‘Humanitarian of the Year’ and also for her Jenny Packham dress with a series of bangles and a glittering cocktail ring.

And the diamond divas shocked in statement pieces, from chandelier earrings to shiny necklaces like this heart piece on Elise Neal.

But it was Michael Jackson’s legacy that was the night’s big winner, as the African American community claimed the artist as their own and honored him for the brilliant work he did – not the bizarre life he lived.

Click here for a complete list of BET winners and don’t miss host, Jamie Foxx’s, hilarious Beat It tribute here – complete with 80s choreography and the iconic jacket. Foxx may be an Oscar-winner, but he might want to leave the moon-walking to Michael.
