The Jewelry Insider

From the runways to the red carpets, coral is emerging as a major trend to watch this season – a perfect fit for nature buffs and fashionistas alike.

The Los Angeles Times reports that coral’s summery color and branchy imprint are appearing on everything from sandals to dresses, bags to home decor.

And while the use of coral in jewelry has become more rare due to an over-harvesting of reefs, the category is experiencing a comeback with a resurgence of vintage pieces, eco-friendly faux styles and new tasteful looks that won’t break the bank.

“Lately I’ve been seeing it a lot in pendants from the early-1900s Art Nouveau period and from the ’60s and ’70s when bold color started showing up in jewelry,” boutique owner Larry Platt told the LA Times.

“The popularity of coral has grown recently because the aesthetic isn’t so serious and people are now looking for ways to tone down the bling in jewelry but still keep an element of fun.”

And if the branchy silhouette isn’t your style, you can find coral jewels in any number of shapes – from cabochon ring styles to beads on earrings and bangles, as shown on these select pieces from our new Diamond Partner, Nordstrom.

So get in touch with your inner mermaid and browse through our coral stash for your summer wardrobe – all at the affordable price points you’ve come to expect from
