Diamonds, tears and plot twists dominated the finale of the fifth installment of The Bachelorette last night.
Canadian beauty, Jillian Harris, stood on a flower-filled platform a bundle of nerves, and after politely dismissing cutey, Kiptyn Locke, she waited for the remaining bachelor, Ed Swiderski, to arrive – the guy who left in the fifth week due to job pressure only to return to follow his heart.
But in true Bachelorette fashion, it’s not over without a surprise
guest appearance: Philadelphia realtor Reid Rosenthal was the next to arrive. Dismissed a week earlier, the third runner-up was back, pouring his heart out to Harris and falling to one knee to propose.
Harris was visibly moved by the gesture, but had to send Rosenthal away again. “I have fallen in love with somebody,” she explained. “I can’t let them go now.”
That person, of course, was Ed Swiderski.
He arrived in a white limo and strode confidently towards Harris, then declared, “I want to be with you forever. I want to have a family with you. I want you to give me a hard time when we’re 80 years old. Jillian, will you marry me?”
We all know the answer to THAT question, certainly made easier by a $60,000 Neil Lane
platinum and diamond ring fit for any reality star bride-to-be.
The happy couple will reunite tonight at 10pm for the “After The Final Rose” episode, where we all find out if the romance was, indeed, the real deal or just another reality show relationship destined to fizzle.
