The Jewelry Insider

The top fashion designers ‘shut it down’ this week in Paris, with blingy baubles and huge headwear that would make Marie Antoinette blush! See how you can wear the trends!

These days, it’s always Fashion Week somewhere in the world, but jewelry hounds and fashionistas know it’s the Parisian catwalks that truly set the bar.

Lucky for you, we’ve combed through all the Paris offerings – from Alexander McQueen to Valentino – and picked our top jewelry looks for your drooling pleasure. You may not want an oversized Afro wig or a denim bra for your wardrobe, but there are plenty of blingy trends here to inspire you.

Glitter in Gold:

While some designers opted for color a-kimbo this season, many stuck to what always works – gold. Jean Paul Gaultier layered links in his line, Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel added romantic touches to his barnyard-inspired frocks and Alexander McQueen added futuristic sculptural wristwear to his Aquawoman collection.

Pearls of Perfection:

John Galliano channeled old Hollywood with looks that Style.com aptly described as his “fashion version of Sunset Boulevard“. Pearls and brooches lit up his line with layered necklaces and bracelets adding a vintage tilt. It’s an easy look to duplicate with either real or costume pieces (and don’t forget to root through grandma’s jewelry box).

Make a Statement:

Lanvin blew us away with their use of statement necklaces – a stunning fashion statement that women can interpret however they please these days. And the good news? This fun trend is here to stay well into next year.

So don’t let the catwalks clip your wings – get inspired by the creativity spilling out of Paris and jazz up your personal style.
