A whopping 123 gold jewelry designers displayed their wares at the World Gold Council’s press preview this month. See what gold jewelry trends emerged and how you can get in on the action.

The World Gold Council hosted its annual press preview earlier this month, featuring new gold jewelry styles from a diverse range of higher-end designers. Over one hundred display tables lit up the Midtown Manhattan townhouse with styles that ranged from the delicate to the downright drool-worthy. But when all the gold dust settled, there were four general jewelry trends to think about for this season and beyond. (All photos courtesy of World Gold Council)

1. Open Designs:

With the price of gold breaking the $1,000 barrier and climbing, jewelry designers are getting big looks with less metal by using openwork designs, featuring large loops, teardrop shapes and lots of links.

2. Wristwear Rules:

Bangles and Cuffs were a big hit on the red carpet this season and they continue to shine bright for spring, with heavy metal styles and stacked gold bangle looks making the strongest showing.

3. Small Statements:

Petite pendants could be found on nearly every design display – proving you don’t have to wear Ft. Knox around your neck these days to add a little shine.

4. Rockin’ Rings:

From animal designs to stacked looks, it’s all about getting creative when it comes to gold ring fingers this season. And with stars like Rihanna wearing them on every finger, you can ignore the ‘less is more’ suggestion we made in the previous category.
