‘Nerd Prom’ no more, The Correspondents’ Dinner proved Washington insiders can shine with the best of them. Check out all the jewelry winners and losers.

Jewelry fashion and politics haven’t always found their groove. While the Correspondents’ Dinner (aka: Nerd Prom) used to bring out folks who care more about saving the world than styling their hair, this year DC got the down-low on how to rock a carpet right. With a little help from Hollywood.

Of favorite looks this year are the stunning statement earrings on Katie Couric, designer Tory Burch, and the simple sparklers on Scarlett Johansson and Julianna Margulies.

Wristwear queens included Kim Kardashian in black and white diamond bangles, Cynthia Nixon in a metallic cuff and a stunning Michelle Obama in statement pieces by Bochic and Sutra Jewels (find out more First Lady fashion details from our blogger, The Jewelry Insider).

The evening was not without its fashion missteps. Patricia Arquette’s yellow gold bib necklace is the wrong choice with the wrong gown. Jessica Simpson’s yellow Carolina Herrera number doesn’t get help from the overdone cuffs and rings, and we are getting a bit tired of Ashley Judd’s flower accessory choice over just some simple sparkle.
