Marilyn Monroe’s iconic bubblegum dress that wowed audiences in 1953’s
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is up for auction in June.
The strapless sensation that helped make the song “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best
Friend” a classic could fetch up to $250,000, according to the Profiles in
History auction house. But considering the infamous gown Monroe wore to sing
“Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy in 1962 fetched a whopping $1.3
million – they might get more than they bargained for.
The auction from June 10 – 12 will also offer the Wicked Witch of the West’s
hat from 1939’s Wizard of Oz, Johnny Depp’s Scissorhands from 1990’s
Edward Scissorhands and Darth Vader’s light sabre from 1983’s
Return of the Jedi. Elvis Presley’s clothing and a guitar and Steve
McQueen’s shotgun from The Magnificent Seven are also on the block.
