The Jewelry Insider

January 16, 2012

From chandeliers and bold, blingin’ bangles to simple studs and scene-stealing green, the gals of the Golden Globes rocked the red carpet┬áSunday night and has the shimmering recap on Angelina, Charlize,┬áReese, Kate, Sofia and more.

Diamond Studs

Simple stud earrings proved they are here to stay as a staple on the red carpet. When paired with a jaw-dropping gown, they are the perfect way to add a dash of sparkle without overpowering the rest of the ensemble.

Angelina rarely steps out of the realm of studs and last night was no exception with her 25-carat Lorraine Schwartz earrings. Claire Danes paired her black and white J. Mendel gown with diamond studs and a diamond bracelet by Bulgari, while Emma Stone was red-hot in a raspberry gown by Lanvin paired with Lorraine Schwartz earrings.

Yellow Gold

It’s official. Yellow gold is making a name for itself in 2012. Freida Pinto added sparkle to her blue Prada gown with a statement-making necklace by Chopard. Salma Hayek wore gleaming gold tassel earrings by Lorraine Schwartz that beautifully complemented her art-deco black and gold Gucci gown. And Diane Lane followed two trends of the night with her
sparkling nude and gold dress and yellow gold dangle earrings.

Blingin’ Bangles and Eye-Catching Earrings

Big earrings and even bigger bangles and bracelets made a huge showing last night among Hollywood’s most glamorous stars. Sofia Vergara never disappoints when it comes to bling as she accessorized her custom Vera Wang gown with 160 carats of Harry Winston jewels draping from her ears to her wrists.

Jessica Alba was perfect in a pale lilac gown by Gucci, and sparkled with dangle earrings and bracelet by Bulgari. Leading lady Kate Winslet was glowing in vintage Fred Leighton gold and citrine earrings and cuff.

Blonde bombshell and supermodel Elle Macpherson was statuesque in her Zac Posen gown accompanied with Lorraine Schwartz jewels, including huge gold earrings and colorful bangles layered half way up her arm. Nicole Richie piled on the bling with chandelier earrings and an assortment of gemstone cuffs all by Neil Lane. Beautiful Brit Kate Beckinsale may have stolen the show with the gorgeous dangle earrings and multiple bracelets all by Lorraine Schwartz.

Blingy wristwear also sparkled on Paula Patton, Amanda Peet. Stacy Keibler, Natalie Portman, Reese Witherspoon, and Viola Davis.

Singing the Blues… Turquoises and Greens

When it comes to colors, Hollywood showed that it’s not quite ready for Tangerine Tango (maybe for the Oscars), but are keeping it cool with glowing greens, turquoise and blue. Glee queen Lea Michele rocked a huge emerald cocktail ring that popped against her metallic Marchesa gown.

Debra Messing brought a dash of colorful flair to her black dress with Lorraine Schwartz purple and emerald statement earrings and emerald ring. Julianna Margulies offset her purple Naeem Khan gown with a pair of bright green emerald earrings by Lorraine Schwartz that could be seen for miles. Julianne Moore continued the trend with Messing and wore emerald tassel earrings and an emerald ring by Fred Leighton.

Supermodel Heidi Klum was one of the few donning any kind of neckwear, and she did so with a huge turquoise choker style necklace and matching cocktail ring by Lorraine Schwartz. Jenna Dewan flipped the trend and wore a teal green dress paired with light purple Irene Neuwirth earrings.

Freida Pinto, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Laura Dern all rocked this color trend when it came to their gowns.

Head-Turning Hair Wear

Jewelry is no longer for our ears, necks, fingers and wrists, according to Charlize Theron and Michelle Williams. Both actresses topped their ensembles with sparkling statement-making headbands. Will we see more ‘hair jewelry’ in 2012? We hope so!
