Third time’s (hopefully) a charm for Bachelorette Emily Maynard as she accepts a proposal – and a 3.5 carat diamond stunner – from Jef Holm.
Unless you’ve spent the last year and a half living under a rock, you know that the relationship between Bachelor Brad Womack and Emily Maynard started crumbling soon after the cameras stopped rolling. In typical ‘Bachelor’ fashion, ABC gave single mom (and envy of all women), Emily another shot at love as Season 8’s ‘Bachelorette’.
As the season drew to an end, it was clear that Emily found herself in love with two different men, racecar driver Arie Luyendyk Jr. and entrepreneur Jef Holm. But it was Jef’s quirky charm and willingness to slap on a pair of pink goggles to swim with Emily’s 6 year-old daughter Ricki that won her heart.
Before the final rose was handed to Jef, he spent some time with ‘Bachelor’ bling guru and celebrity designer Neil Lane to pick out the perfect symbol of his love. Jef walked away with a 2.5 carat emerald-cut diamond dazzler framed with 1 carat of 87 round-cut diamonds – a rock Lane designed with Emily in mind. According to People Magazine, Lane said about Emily, “She exudes grace and style, with an elegance that reminded me of high society of the 1920s when that stone was very fashionable.” Well said, Neil Lane.
Directly following the proposal at the live After the Final Rose, Emily tells us she’s so in love with Jef that the ring doesn’t matter and could just be a piece of tape wrapped around her finger. We also learned that Emily, Jef and Ricki are having fun as a family, going to farms and sneaking cookies when mom’s not looking. Adorable.
No immediate wedding plans, but we did find out that the couple are soon headed to Africa with Jef’s company People Water to visit the villages they have recently added clean water wells to. So sweet.
