2012 Emmy Awards Jewelry Trend Report

Bright colors ruled the 2012 Emmy red carpet, but who brought the to-die-for jewelry moments we’ll be talking about for weeks? Check it all out here!

The 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards aired last night, and TV’s hottest brightened up the red carpet with a slew of neon colors making us forget we are 3 days into fall, as well as some bling-tastic jewelry trends to kick off awards season.

The Colors

If we were to guess a hot color trend to expect on the red carpet this year, yellow would not be it. What we thought would be early arrival Leslie Mann’s Naeem Khan yellow moment quickly turned into what would become a chartreuse showdown. Claire Danes, Julianne Moore and Julie Bowen were all winners and accepted their Emmy awards in yellow frocks. Other starlets glowing in gold were Kaley Cuoco, Kelli Garner, Renee Barr and Hannah Simone.

The color of the year for 2012, Tangerine Tango, continues to make a splash into the fall season. Ginnifer Goodwin and Padma Lakshmi both wore orange Monique Lhuillier gowns. Jessica Lange, Cat Deeley, Gretchen Mol, Nancy O’Dell, Lindsay Pulsipher, Shaun Robinson, Anna Gunn and Merritt Wever all wore mouthwatering shades of tangerine and orange.

50 Shades of Grey might be all the buzz, but it was the many shades of turquoise that had us questioning if this was really the start to fall. Heidi Klum wore an Alexandre Vauthier gown with matching turquoise jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz. Julianne Hough matched her gown to her eyes with a Georges Hobeika strapless number. Archie Panjabi, Nicole Kidman, Zooey Deschanel and Sofia Vergara also rocked the red carpet in green-blue hues.

The Jewelry

Beyond the bright gowns was what we were really looking forward to – and when it came to bling on the red carpet, the usual suspects were out and about with a few standout moments and new trends we loved.

Statement earrings continue to be the go-to accessory, but this year we saw more colored gems than the standard diamond dazzlers. Plenty of stars brought the blue-green color trend to their jewelry with Guiliana Rancic in Sutra earrings, Leslie Mann, Heidi Klum and Jane Krakowski in Lorraine Schwartz, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Irene Neuwirth. Black diamond and dark gemstone earrings were prevalent among the likes of Amy Poehler in Penny Preville, Anna Chlumsky, Edie Falco, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Kathy Griffin. Julianna Margulies and Padma Lakshmi both matched their gowns with earrings by Fred Leighton.

Gemstone cocktail rings and diamond right hand rings were all over the red carpet, and thanks to E!’s Fashion Police, the ‘Manicam’ made them easy to spot! Jessica Pare, Heidi Klum, Sarah Hyland, Jane Krakowski, Kat Dennings and Kelly Osbourne were some standouts in the cocktail ring department.

A dress as a jewel, so eloquently said by Kerry Washington is a continuing trend on the red carpet. Lucy Liu wore a metal Versace gown while Kerry Washington sparkled in a rose gold Vivienne Westwood number. Other sparkling starlets were Connie Britton in Andrew Gn, Kate Mara in Badgley Mischka and Jane Krakowski in Kaufmanfranco.

When it comes to red carpet glamour, there is usually one celeb we all can’t wait to see. Someone who brings the glitz and glam to a whole new level, leaving us wiping the drool off the floor and counting the days until the next red carpet event. Joining the ranks of Elizabeth Taylor and Lucille Ball is Sofia Vergara. As if her va-va-voom Zuhair Murah gown was not enough of a showstopper itself, Sofia was dripping in Neil Lane diamonds totaling over 175 carats. Funny and glamorous? What’s not to love about that!
