Celebrity Jewelry Re-Hash: 2014 Emmy Awards

Carats, Color & Crimson, was the method & madness to the 2014 Emmys Red Carpet looks. From Christina Hendrick’s Geranium Red Strapless Gown to Kate Walsh’s eye-searing lemon sculpted ankle scraper, high-definition hues were all the rage. And, what better way to work your technicolor accoutrement than with a cosmos of blinding white sapphires & diamonds. Check out our list of the Best and Worst Bejeweled for 2014.

Kate Walsh

Seeped in an ever-so elegantly sculpted Stephane Rolland Couture gown and Stuart Weitzman shoes, Walsh donned a stream of round-cut, pear and marquise diamonds totaling in 95.05 carats, accented by 6.36 carat round-cut diamond studs.  By choosing a silhouette of all white diamonds this not only illuminated her look but gave the contours and complexities of her gown a graceful accent. If she had chosen for examples emeralds or a ruby necklace this may have taken away from the gown and more appropriate for a strictly fashion-focused event like the Met Ball.

Sarah Hyland

Professed a new style of the princess-look with an ultra contemporary twist. Rocking a Christian Siriano white spaghetti-strap square neck crop top and flowing skirt painted in papaya. Hyland chose pink gold & white diamond Lorraine Schwartz earrings which punctuated her ballerina bun codifying this as one effortlessly high-octane look.

Claire Daines

Claire Daines took Emmy jewelry to new sculptural proportions ablaze in ruby butterflies resting along her neckline designed by Lorraine Schwartz. Twinkling ruby studs faultlessly finished off the actor’s poppy Givenchy lace overlay gown.

Sofia Vergara

Aside from a stunning spectacle of jewels adoring the necklines and wrist lines of celebrities like Lizzy Kaplan & Laverne Cox, Sofia Vergara stole the scene basking in a strapless Roberto Cavalli gown and bedecked in Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Mesh drops lengthened her look while emerald cocktail sparklers added enhanced her sun kissed silhouette and Red Carpet power lip.

Natasha Lyonne

Although Natasha Lyonne was decorously divine in her custom made Opening Ceremony gown,  her jewelry choices seemed last minute.  Firstly, stackable rings (like the one on her index finger) need to be layered and not left to fend against that architecturally tweaked statement sparkler (on middle finger). Secondly,  the floral rosette bracelet and single gold bangle clashed violently with everything else, paling in comparison  to Lyonne’s ring bling.

Christina Hendricks

Louis XIV must be twerking in his grave with the ungaudley proportions of glitz and gold. Although high glam and kitsch are having a moment right now in fashion, caking on every god forsaken piece of gold doesn’t work with either fashion formula. From 17th century France to the Real Housewives of New Jersey we all know red + gold = THE arranged marriage for celebrating status and wealth. I’m not knocking her entire style but if she had just cancelled one of her arm parties, and opted for chandelier earrings with more fluid lines to keep her look streamlined.  Nonetheless, I’m still an unabashed fan of Christina because of her statement looks, but this was not a favorite
