Morgan Jewelers

Nate Morgan, Sr. emigrated from Europe in 1900. His destination was Salt Lake
City, Utah, where his father’s friend had a pawnshop with an open job. In 1914,
Nate opened his own store in Pocatello, Idaho. Pocatello was a main hub for the
Union Pacific Railroad, and Morgan’s became the official inspector for the
railroad, meaning all employees in the area had to have their railroad watches
inspected and calibrated at Morgan Jewelers. Nate then got authorization to sell
jewelry items to the employees and have payments deducted directly from their
payrolls. Today, Morgan Jewelers operates 17 stores across Utah, Montana,
Nevada, Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
