Neil Lane Designs Nicole Richie’s Wedding Band

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden finally got married after YEARS of speculation this weekend in a sparkling winter-themed ceremony at Lionel Richie’s Beverly Hills home. Did her 150 guests ‘dance on the ceiling’ in celebration? Details of the black-tie bash are few and far between, but here’s what I know so far.

The Dress: Nicole reportedly spent a lot of time choosing the right gown, laboring between vintage Chanel and Marchesa (designer of the dress Richie wears above). Ultimately, Marchesa won the day not once, not twice but three times on the lady throughout the ceremony and reception, according to InStyle.com.

The Jewelry: Neil Lane designed Richie’s 4-carat vintage-inspired engagement ring, so it’s no surprise his handiwork was all over the wedding band design. No pictures or details have emerged yet – but stay tuned.

The Guest List: Paris Hilton wasn’t invited, according to Styleist.com. But BFFs Khloe Kardashian and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz were on hand along with Gavin Rossdale, Gwen Stefani, and Samantha Ronson. Daughter Harlow was the flower girl, and Rev. Run from Run DMC officiated. So it’s like that…

The Atmosphere: Winter is Richie’s favorite season, so the formal affair was bedazzled accordingly. Which doesn’t explain why an elephant was photographed entering the festivities. But what celebrity wedding would be complete without one these days? (click here for more).

All this Nicole Richie news reminds me that her House of Harlow 1960 jewelry line is still going strong, with price points that are stocking-stuffer-friendly. Shop her collection on Pink Mascara here.

Katy Perry’s Wedding Jewelry: A Desi Meets Diamond Delight

If Katy Perry’s wedding jewelry is anything like her unique diamond engagement ring, the 50-75 guests she and fiance Russell Brand are flying to India for their wedding on Saturday will have to bring some serious shades.

Why? Because rumor has it, the popstar bride will combine western tradition (diamonds) with Indian wedding custom – which for the uninitiated means golden jewelry shines on every possible appendage.

I have never been to an Indian (Desi) wedding, but by all accounts, it’s an elephant-filled, marigold explosion of cheer that puts our country-clubbing, electric-sliding, rubber chicken-eating antics to shame.  And jewelry forms a very important part of the overall attire of an Indian bride, according to iloveindia.com.

Here are just a few of the many blingy options women are expected to wear:

Shringar Patti
Shringar Patti is kind of tiara, usually in gold, which adorns the forehead of the bride – placed along her hairline with a circular plaque in the middle.

Maang Tikka
Maang Tikka is a shortened version of the Shringaar Patti. It’s basically a golden string worn by the bride in center parting of the hair.

Bridal Set: (Necklace & Earrings)
The outfit of a bride is incomplete without the bridal set, which includes a heavy neck piece and matching earrings to match the overall style of the bridal dress.

Throw in nose rings, finger rings, toe rings, bangles, anklets and arm bands – and there’s nary a body part that escapes the golden touch.

So will Ms. Perry throw in a splash of diamond bling for good measure? Will Neil Lane stow away in the underbelly of the jet like an escaped convict in a Tom Ford suit to get a shot at bedazzling yet another celebrity bride? Stay tuned.

In the meantime? Back to our regularly scheduled, marigold-barren lives.

Well, jewelry hounds? I found the Khloe Kardashian diamond ring low down for you.

The wedding that has everyone in Hollywood buzzing went down yesterday evening between Khloe and her LA Laker bf, Lamar Odom – and of course Ryan Seacrest was there to film the fiesta for his Keeping Up With The Kardashians reality show (why that show gets ratings is beyond me).

Actually, I do see at least one angle of interest here. Khloe’s whopper of a diamond engagement ring was finally spotted, and the 9-carat radiant cut bauble rivals that of fellow Laker wife, Vanessa Bryant (wife of Kobe).

While Vanessa lost in the carat count (she has a mere 7) she does win the dating game – hanging with Kobe for a marathon 6 months before walking down the aisle. Way to take your time, ladies.

Anywho, check out Jewelry.com for details of the wedding itself. Lots of celebrity guests, white roses, gourmet food and the like – and of course plenty of reality show cameras there to make sure America watches.

What’s next? Hospital bed footage when sister, Kourtney, delivers her baby? I think I’ll pass…

What’s more outrageous than a 9-carat diamond engagement ring? Getting a 9-carat diamond engagement ring and not wearing it!

Reality star Khloe Kardashian is stealing the spotlight from her famous sisters this week with news of her last-minute wedding to LA Laker, Lamar Odom, after dating him for only a month.

“I’m thrilled to finally be able to tell you that the news is true…Lamar and I are getting married on Sunday!!!” Kardashian wrote on her Celebuzz blog Tuesday. “I couldn’t be happier and I’m so excited that I can finally share the news with all of you.”

Maybe his 4-year $33 million-dollar deal motivated her? Or perhaps the rumored 9-carat diamond ring sealed the deal? But the ring is nowhere to be found! What gives?
Apparently, the diamond dazzler is being sized so it’s ready for the pending nuptials this Sunday. You can bet I’ll be tracking it – once it makes its debut it will be hard to miss.
What do you guys think of Khloe’s decision to walk down the aisle? Is she marrying for the money? Or do you think it’s true love – with (some major) benefits?

Who’s the Boss? Alyssa Milano, clearly, who wore a designer Vera Wang gown and a huge custom-made diamond engagement ring for her weekend wedding.

Celebrity weddings are full of designer diamonds, but Charmed actress Milano, 36, got hitched in a unique diamond engagement ring created by her very own husband – with a little help.

Mr. Alyssa, Hollywood agent David Bugliari, designed the diamond ring with Jim Lavi at Daniel Jewelry in La Jolla, California. The huge cushion-cut diamond solitaire rests on an 18kt gold band, but the jeweler refused to reveal the carat weight to reporters stating only that, “It’s a big one.”

According to People, the bride wore a Vera Wang gown and walked down the aisle to John Lennon’s, “Imagine”. Wedding guests attended a rustic-style reception after the ceremony, which Milano, who is of Italian descent, said was meant to create the essence of her family’s Sunday dinners.

“We wanted a wedding that was reflective of who we are as a couple,” said Milano, who met her husband in 2006.

But Alyssa isn’t the only one with a cushion-cut diamond lighting up her ring finger. Cushion-cut diamonds are all the rage these days with Ivanka Trump, Anna Paquin and Mark Wahlberg’s wife, Rhea Durham, sporting the style, among others.

Check out the Jewelry.com bridal boutique for over 600 diamond engagement ring styles from all the retailers you trust, including some stunning cushion-cut sparklers that rival any celebrity bling.

Jason Biggs and the Proposal that Defied Tradition

I’ve heard of non-traditional engagement rings, but this is a first. Comedy star, Jason Biggs, threw convention out the window when he proposed to his girlfriend last year by presenting her not with a diamond for her ring finger, but with – an earring for her, um, lobe?

“I proposed twice,” he told People.com. “We were in St Martin. I just bought her these earrings and I took one out of her ear and proposed to her with it.”

You have to give the guy credit for spontaneity.

Biggs followed the impromptu proposal with a more formal one a few months later along with the traditional jewelry garb for such a weighty occasion. But a part of me thinks they should have left it at that.

Who says we have to wear an engagement ring to signify our pending nuptials? If you want to go wtih a ring, many folks are going with colored stones instead of icy diamond looks to mix things up. And there are some lovebirds who pledge their love for one another without jewelry altogether (god forbid).

Have any of you been proposed to with anything but a diamond ring? I’d like to hear your stories. Weigh in – and have a great holiday weekend!

Singer Stacy (Fergie) Ferguson and TV’s hunky Josh Duhamel are the latest celebrity couple to pull off a high-profile wedding. While the Golden Globes distracted much of Hollywood, the photogenic couple wed in Malibu on Saturday in a ceremony rumored to have put the pair back a whopping $1.5 million.

And in the spirit of ‘something borrowed’, Fergie’s fairy godfather, H. Stern, loaned her $5 million in diamond jewelry to add sparkle to her Dolce & Gabbana wedding gown, including the Ropes Diamond Necklace worn in her hair as a veil, Hera diamond earrings also worn as hair pieces, and the Venus necklace, a lariat design featuring over 80 carats of diamonds.

You look good? You get perks.

Fergie’s engagement ring, also by H. Stern, is a modified version of Stern’s signature Stars Ring piece, featuring a round 4 carat brilliant cut diamond set with white and cognac ice along the band. A narrow colored diamond wedding band was designed to match.

As for Josh? He got a white gold ring.

E!Online reports that guests included the bride’s fellow Black Eyed Peas, including will.i.am, as well as Justin Timberlake, Kate Hudson, Mario Lopez, Slash, Kid Rock, Stacy Keibler, Molly Sims and new parents, Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell.

The ceremony took place in a large white tent, the reception in a black-and-white tent, and the afterparty in a pink tent that was decked out like a disco. The sisters of the bride and groom gave toasts, and the happy couple topped off the evening with a cake designed like a 14th-century castle.

And what would a celebrity wedding be without hovering aircraft? Not to worry. Several paparazzi-powered helicopters hung around throughout the event. But hubby, Josh, thankfully knows a thing or two about battling the paps. How’s this for a wedding shower?

Congrats to the happy couple!
