More Cannes Film Festival Jewelry!

The Cannes Film Festival is still going strong, so you know what that means – we’re here to report on the greatest Cannes celeb jewelry looks! Just like Cannes opening day, statement earrings were a hot red carpet trend this past weekend, but we also spotted some beautiful necklaces and bracelets.

Salma Hayek looked beautiful as usual in a strapless pink Yves Saint Laurent gown. She accessorized with a diamond snake Cartier bracelet that wrapped up her wrist. What a unique (and blingy) statement piece!

Cate Blanchett paired a bejeweled Givenchy gown with a pair of unique sapphire Chopard chandelier earrings. We think her look worked nicely for the premiere of “How to Train Your Dragon 2” (doesn’t the bodice of her gown remind you of a dragon?).

Cheryl Cole rocked the red carpet in a strapless black Monique Lhuillier gown, but what really caught our eyes were her extremely large monochrome drop earrings. Check out the size of those babies!

Bollywood fashionista Sonam Kapoor kept it traditional with a pale pink Anamika Khanna sari dress. She completed her look with a stunning necklace (choker’s are in back in ladies) designed by her mom Sunita Kapoor (aw!). Love this look!

Our favorite film festival has arrived…the Cannes Film Festival, unless you prefer the full French name Le Festival International du Film de Cannes (say that three times fast in your best French accent!). Cannes is fun for a number of reasons. One, who doesn’t love movies? Two, it takes place in France. Three (and this is of course the most important), celebs come decked out in their very best jewelry!
Blake Lively really is a fashion goddess. After her gorgeous Met Gala look, she knocked it out of the park once again during the first day of Cannes. She accessorized her burgundy Gucci gown with a Lorraine Schwartz colored diamond flower bracelet, a diamond vine bracelet, and unique pink diamond earrings with 25 carat ruby drops. We just love the big-earrings look! Wonder if we could pull them off…

Do we even have to say anything about Nicole Kidman? This woman just oozes class. She paired an Armani Prive gown (embellished with tons of bling) with some gorgeous Harry Winston diamond earrings, a Harry Winston diamond bracelet, and a Winston Cluster Line bracelet. Loving the bracelets! Pretty in character for her new film Grace of Monaco where she plays Grace Kelly, don’t you think?

Earrings were a big trend at the opening day of Cannes. Although many critics didn’t agree with model Karlie Kloss’s dark Valentino gown, we really loved her jewels. Karlie completed her look with ethical pendant earrings from Chopard’s Green Carpet Collection.

Rose gold jewelry is very popular at the moment, and perfect for the upcoming warm-weather months. Zoe Saldana stunned in a white Victoria Beckham dress, paired with Catene rose gold and diamond earrings and an Onde ring. The rose gold creates a lovely contrast with her white dress.

O.M.G. We had to save the best for last. Here is Elena Lenina, the eccentric Russian star, in an extremely poufy red dress and just look at that hair! HOW did she get it to do that? We’re lucky if we get some curls to stay in throughout the day. Her hair is completely dolled up with a tiara, crown, some funky flower looking jewel-encrusted hair pieces, and honestly, we don’t even know what else she could be hiding in there. Any guesses?

Met Gala 2014 Best Dressed

Anna Wintour’s infamous Met Gala took place last night and while no, we weren’t there (hey, we can dream!), we have scoured the web to check out the attendees in their very best dresses and baubles, and let’s not forget tuxes and suits. This year, the Met Gala 2014 theme was “White Tie and Decorations.” The theme honored Charles James, a British-born designer known for his glamorous ball gowns, classic silhouettes, and overall elegant designs. Here are our top four favorite looks (how could we not include SJP?!).

Best-Dressed: Sarah Jessica Parker channeled her inner Sex and the City and looked simply stunning in a black and white Oscar de la Renta gown, made especially for her of course. It was SJP’s idea to have de la Renta’s name embroidered across the back of the dress in scarlet embroidery thread. She accessorized with long white gloves and Fred Leighton earrings and bracelet.

Best-Dressed: Blake Lively and hubby Ryan Reynolds both looked amazing and pulled off the white tie theme flawlessly, but really do they ever look anything less than perfect? The lovebirds wore custom-designed Gucci pieces. Blake paired her silk chiffon gown with Lorraine Schwartz earrings and a large cocktail ring. Ryan on the other hand didn’t wear any accessories, but let’s be serious, he doesn’t need to.

Kate Bosworth @ Met Gala, Photo Credit: www.eonline.com

Best-Dressed: Kate Bosworth looked gorge (and supper skinny!) in a pink Stella McCartney gown. Kate wore a number of gold accessories such as drop earrings, cuff bracelets, rings, and a choker-type necklace. Her jewelry came from a number of different designers including Ana Khouri, Vieri, Sidney Garber, and Anna Sheffield.

Beyonce @ Met Gala, Photo Credit: www.justjared.com

Beyonce @ Met Gala, Photo Credit: www.justjared.com

Best-Dressed: Beyonce can never do wrong, we all know that. Queen Bee paired a black Givenchy dress with a headpiece, and accessorized with black Lorraine Schwartz earrings (talk about statement jewelry) and several rings. One of the rings actually slid off her finger, and hubby Jay Z found it and acted out a mock proposal. How cute!

Lena Dunham @ Met Gala, Photo Credit: www.huffingtonpost.com

Worst-Dressed: You know this post wouldn’t be complete without us including at least one worst-dressed. That title goes to…Lena Dunham! We love Lena, we really do (go Girls!), but this dress really doesn’t flatter much. Maybe something a little longer would have been a better choice to accompany the theme of the night.

Celebrate May with this month’s official birthstone – lush green emerald (what else?) Did you know emerald is the symbol of spring? Here are some more fun tid-bits about the gemstone!
Emerald symbolized hope, rebirth, and the arrival of spring throughout the ancient world.
Some cultures believed the gem brought its owners love, intelligence, and eloquence.
Emerald is the gift of choice for couples celebrating their 20th and 35th wedding anniversaries (in case you need to buy any gifts for any upcoming celebrations…hint, hint).

Just two days ago, Sotheby’s New York premiered a number of extravagant jewels from the estate of big band/swing singer Eydie Gorme. Almost all of the jewelry in her collection was a gift from husband Steve Lawrence, also her onstage partner. Among the jewels is a 36.53 ct emerald ring set in platinum and 18K gold. Um…can we just hold this ring please?

Any guesses on how much this ring was auctioned off for? A whopping…wait for it…$4,645,000!

MTV Movie Awards: Jewelry, Fashion, & Beauty Trends

The MTV Movie Awards took place just this past weekend. Didn’t have time to watch? No worries! We’re here to bring you photos and conversation about the awards red-carpet trends. As usual, we scoured the carpet for the brightest and biggest jewels, but we’re also fashion and beauty fiends. Here are three jewelry, fashion, and beauty trends we spotted.

Rihanna at the MTV Music Awards

Earring Bling: Dig out your dangly earrings! This year earrings were plentiful at the MTV Movie Awards. Jessica Alba rocked a pair of long black earrings and a second pair of cross earrings from Graziela Gems. If you’re looking for a similar pair, check out these gorgeous Van Kempen Onyx stunners. We’re sure you’ll love them!

Wavy Beach Hair: Look’s like even the celebs are ready for the summer (aren’t we all?). Ellie Goulding showed up to the awards sporting some casual golden locks that we can never seem to pull off ourselves. She went for a classic look with simple Finn earrings, Lynn Bann bracelets and ring, and a Penny Preville ring. Here’s a triple bangle bracelet like Ellie’s.

Solid Colors Accessorized: While there were a number of floral looks at the awards, several celebs opted for solid colors, and accessorized their outfits with jewels. Nicki Minaj accented her skin-tight black dress with some Alexander McQueen gold jewelry, including several armbands, which are hot items for the spring and summer. Kate, William, and George arriving in NZ, Photo Credit: www.dailymail.co.uk

Kate Middleton, Prince William, and Baby George are officially on tour in New Zealand, and the Duchess of Cambridge looked amazing as usual, just stepping off the plane in a double-breasted red military-style coat by Catherine Walker. We don’t know about you, but post-flight we’re lucky to look even remotely stylish in our yoga pants, hoodie, and sneaks.

We all know that Kate had her choice of any of the Queen’s jewels for the tour (lucky!), but in true Kate-style, she showed some local love to New Zealand jewelers Tory & Ko. The brand’s designers sent four of Kate’s favorite pieces, in hopes that she’ll wear them in New Zealand during her tour.

Kate’s selection included a pair of blue topaz bow earrings, a cultured pearl and diamond necklace with matching earrings from the bespoke collection, and a pair of citrine bow earrings from the Pretty Collection.

The Academy Country Music Awards (ACMA’s) took place this past weekend and guess who was watching – that’s right, we were! Even if country music isn’t really your thing (don’t knock it until you try it!), you have to admit that the ACMA’s are always fun to watch. Who doesn’t love checking out the latest red carpet looks and trends? We chose our top three favorite best-dressed (jewelry is what really wins us over) and threw in a worst-dressed just for good measure.

Taylor Swift, Photo Credit: www.justjared.com

Best-dressed: The pretty and talented Taylor Swift sported a crop top with some major leg. Somehow we don’t think the average-Joe could have pulled off this look, but T Swift did it very stylishly. Her dangly Marina B earrings and wrist-wear, though simple, were perfect for her ensemble. Here are some tie drop earrings, shaped just like T Swift’s that are sure to spice up your look.

Faith Hill, Photo Credit: www.justjared.com

Best-dressed: We don’t think it’s possible for Faith Hill to look anything but gorgeous. Seriously, didn’t she look amazing in her in v-neck blue dress with hubby Tim McGraw (who looked pretty good himself!)? What really pulled her outfit together was her geometrically shaped Martin Katz statement necklace. It reminded us a little bit of this blue topaz necklace.

Carrie Underwood, Photo Credit: www.justjared.com

Best-dressed: We just loved Carrie Underwood’s classy fringe dress and the way she paired it with pink David Yurman drop earrings. Stunning! Who would’ve thought pink and beige go so well together? Searching for a similar pair? These Swarovski crystal starfish earrings might be just what you’re looking for!

Kacey Musgraves, Photo Credit: www.glamour.com

Worst-dressed: Kacey Musgraves is such a beautiful girl, but her dress reminded us of something we wore to one of our high-school dances (remember all that tulle?). Hoop earrings are always in, so they were a nice touch. Here’s a finely crafted pair of hoops in 14K white gold to add to your collection of jewelry staples.

Who made it to your best-dressed and worst-dressed lists?

Spring is almost here, and you know what that means – it’s time to put away those hats and gloves, and dig out your spring accessories! Check out the four most popular jewelry trends for Spring 2014.
1) Radiant Orchid
The Pantone Color Institute announced that the color of the year is “Radiant Orchid.” What a perfect color for spring, a season which promises a sense of refreshment and renewal. Wondering how to accessorize with this new hue? Dress up a plain jeans-and-tee look with a pair of purple earrings. Pair that little black dress you’ve been meaning to wear with a purple gemstone cocktail ring or purple bangles. The options are endless!

Check out our Shades of Purple sale for more inspiration!
2) Pastels & Brights
A common trend that was seen on the runway for spring 2014 was mixing pastels with brighter colors. For instance, why not wear a bright blue top with a light blue statement necklace. Try pairing a bright red dress with some light pink jewelry. This is a fun way to incorporate your favorite colors into your look without overdoing it.

We’ve got color contrasts in each of these fun spring collections.

3) Florals
Let’s be serious. Who doesn’t love flowers, right? They smell nice, they’re pretty to look at, and this spring season, they’re fun to wear! Floral statement necklaces, simple flower stud earrings, floral bracelets and cuffs, and watches with florally designed faces are just a few of the pieces that are popular for spring 2014.

Our Zoccai Designer line has a lot of flirty florals to flock to.

4) Cuffs
Ear cuffs, hand cuffs (not the kind you’re thinking!), and ring cuffs are all the rage this spring season. Celebs such as Jennifer Lawrence can be seen rocking ear cuffs on the red carpet, while the ultimate fashionista, Sex and the City gal, Sarah Jessica Parker, has been spotted wearing several glitzy hand cuffs. Have fun experimenting with this new trend.

Find out why pearls -from strands and pendants to necklaces and earrings – are perfect for anybride.

Pearls are, quite simply, the perfect accessory to any wedding outfit. Whether the bride wore black, white or red. Whether it was a traditional, cutting-edge, non-demononational, Vegas-style or religious ceremony. Whether it’s the bride, matron of honor, bridesmaid, flower girl or mother of the groom. There’s one jewel that’s suitable for all… Pearls.

One of the beauty of pearls is that they come in almost every price category. From single digits – bought with the pocket money, to bank-breaking, breathtaking strands – there’s the perfect style at the perfect price for everyone.. Freshwater pearls are much more affordable than their saltwater akoya counterparts — and they can be found in most mall jewelry chains and department stores.

For the bride, a traditional pearl choker or multi-strand collar is an elegant, classic choice that she can wear long after her wedding day. She can also opt for something a bit more modern, such as sweeping shoulder-length earrings or a pearl lariat. Here are some other popular looks for the bride and her bridal party according to several major pearl jewelry manufacturers.

Basic pearl necklace strands of standard sizes (5.5 mm to 6 mm) and lengths (18 in. to 21 in.) are traditional favorites. However, some brides are opting for slightly larger sizes (8 mm to 8.5 mm) as well. In bridal jewelry, white pearls will always reign. But some brides prefer rose-colored pearls as well.

Freshwater pearl trio sets that include a “starter” necklace (with only one or a few pearls on a strand that can be added to on future occasions) along with a matching pearl bracelet and earrings are a big trend right now — both for the bride and as a gift for her attendants.

Basic pearl stud earrings are a popular choice for brides and their bridesmaids, because of their simple elegance and versatility. Other styles, including pearl hoops, dangles and leverbacks (all alone or with diamond accents) are gaining popularity as well.

Pearl bracelets are another strong category. Either single- or multi-strand, a bride can’t go wrong with this style as an accessory for her or her attendants.

Three-stone pearl styles — which represent past, present and future — are another important current category. Although this style originated with diamond jewelry, the romance and enduring love and commitment suggested by the look makes it a perfect fit for pearl bridal jewelry as well. The three-stone pearl look is also available in matching sets of necklaces, bracelets and earrings at many mall jewelry counters.

Meanwhile, pearl solitaires — on a traditional strand or a thin, clear nylon “invisible” strand, which produces a “floating” look — are another affordable choice.
