Bling at Perez Hilton’s Blue Ball Birthday Bash

Jewelry sparkled at gossip queen Perez Hilton’s 33rd birthday party in LA this weekend, where the blue-themed bash brought out everyone from Dancing With The Stars divas and Real Housewives to Disney starlets and 80s popstars.

In other words? A D-listers dream come true.

What jewelry hound worth their salt doesn’t love a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills appearance, right?

Adrienne Maloof Alert! This gazillionairesse has enough in the coffers to create this crazy cart-heavy cuff out her her son’s names!

Taylor Armstrong wore this serious blue gemstone statement necklace to go with her perma-smile.

And my favorite BHHW, Kyle Richards, rocked it with this cool winged pendant thing happening. Like!

Other bejeweled divas were 80s chaunteuse, Deborah Gibson, who wore what appeared to be a sapphire and diamond choker and a crazy cuff with her blue sequined mini.

And Disney diva, Selena Gomez, was Perez’s personal arm candy in blue jewels that appeared to be painted on.

The “hot mess” highlight was the why-is-she-still-famous? Aubrey O’Day, in a blue Little Red Riding Hood get-up with some strange strands. Huh?

It’s never dull, right? Thoughts?

Crazy About Cocktail Rings

Cocktails and jewelry make such a handsome couple, and there’s a sparkling new interpretation: Piaget’s Limelight Cocktail Ring Collection.

While I’m not usually a fan of the ‘literal’ jewelry interpretation (“#1 Mom” pendants, anyone?), these little libation-inspired lovelies are designed to look like ACTUAL cocktails – from the 18kt white gold Mojito ring with (count ’em) 182 diamonds and a 24-carat green tourmaline, to the classic Cosmopolitan.

Shut. It. Down.

There are 6 rings to choose from.  Or if you’re like me after an introductory ‘nip’ – you can sample them all! The bad news is: the price points are more likely in the ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ range – and, well, if you can afford four rotating nannies, I say: “Go for it!”

For the rest of us mere mortals, there are still plenty of cocktail rings to choose from that won’t break the bank – like this fun blue topaz and peridot style for only $83.64 on JewelClub. That’ll leave in room in the wallet for another round (or two), right?

So raise your glass to cocktail classics – from top shelf treasures to affordable concoctions that (unlike that 3rd ‘well drink’ at Happy Hour) won’t leave a nasty hangover.

Chin chin!

The Jewelry Insider

October 11, 2010

Jewelry lines and the Real Housewives franchise go together like D-listers and Dancing With The Stars. And while Atlanta’s Lisa Wu Hartwell and New York’s Ramona Singer actually have a dash of designer street cred to back up their baubles, Jersey’s Danielle Staub?

She seems better suited to peddle a line of cat-fight-proof hair extensions. Or stripper poles.

But, alas. Luxist reports the woman who inspired the table flip heard ’round the world is entering the jewelry fray with a line of cross styles she hopes to launch in time for the holiday season.

Staub says the crosses are “an insignia of just being close whether it’s a religious thing or a relationship thing.”

Manhattan-based jewelry house, Versani, is her named collaborator and they plan to offer rings and cuffs in addition to the cross necklace collection.

Thuggy body guards and frivolous law suits, not included.

For those of you who just can’t wait to get ‘close’ to the cross craze, I found a drama-free Joan Jett-inspired rocker style in sterling silver with diamond accents in JewelClub’s coffers for just over $80 ($168 off retail).

Wonder what the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills will have to offer us in the diamond department? My DVR is already set for this Thursday’s debut. And my brain cells are already rotting.

Jill Zarin Book Launch Jewelry

Jewelry and The Real Housewives series go together like a Bravo! marathon and a rainy day.

We gawk at their outrageous diamond purchases. Squawk when yet another Housewife decides to launch their own jewelry line (Ramona Singer, Kelly Bensimon, and Lisa Wu Hartman are just three I can name off the top of my head). So when New York Housewife, Jill Zarin, celebrated the launch of her new book this week, Secrets of a Jewish Mother, I was more than ready pull out the popcorn.

Two Jersey Housewives made a red carpet showing – both walking the fine line with the “class or clash” police. (No tables were flipped during the making of this program)

Ramona Singer complemented her trademark bug-eyed stare with tasteful diamond swirl earrings and a diamond and blue gemstone bracelet. Not bad, sister.

And Count-less Luann worked the hoop earring trend in a tan not worthy of April.

But what is a Jill Zarin event without an eye-rolling fabric clash and a garish display of ice, right? To that end, jewelry hounds, I give you Jill Zarin.

Bless you, Jill, you’ve never met a busy print you didn’t wear or use for wall covering. She is working the season’s turquoise trend, though, with a fun cocktail ring to match the pumps.

But I hate to say it – a Real Housewife red carpet event isn’t the same without a little Bethenny, right? I’m just sayin’.

What do you guys think of the Housewife bling? Glam, gauche or gaudy?
