If baubled-out bibs and decadent drop earrings don’t make enough of a show-stopping sparkle for you jewelry hounds, then take note of the hottest summer statement trend: eyebrow bling. From rainbow brows to Benefit’s Bling Brow Kit featuring Swarovski crystals, eyebrows are where it’s at. Since eyebrows are considered “the holders of expression”, runway makeup artist James Kaliardos says they should be celebrated as such.

In an age where hyper feminine, conventional beauty is out and anything edgy is in, it’s no wonder why this grunge-glam trend is making waves. American fashion designer RodarteLady Gaga and even Kylie Jenner, just to name some of Hollywood‘s finest, have been spotted blinging out their brows.

Think this is just another silly jewelry fad? Well, according to Kaliardos, expect to see this trend take to new heights with real-gold, gemstone accessories, and embroidered shapes. Shocked or already over it? Well, sit tight jewelry jezebels, because the only RBF you’ll have to work on this summer, is your Resting Brow Face.

All over it? Or…just…over it?

Met Gala 2015 Jewelry Trends

Lights! Camera! Fashion! The jewelry and fashion worlds collided this past Monday at the 2015 Met gala, Christening the Costume Institute’s China: Through the Looking Glass fashion exhibition. From Beyonce’s full frontal crystal adorned ‘gown’ to SJP’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) flame throwing headdress, this ball seemed more like a nudist colony-meets-offensively-tacky-Chinese New Year bash. Did Ms. Wintour mistaken you for one of the Real Housewives of New York and turn down your $100K request to buy a table? Well, that makes two of us. But no worries, we’ve got you covered on the top jewelry trends from fashion’s biggest Superbowl soiree…

Power Bangles & Bracelets

While blingy rings and statement pendants seemed to be a thing from this past red carpet season, sparkly arm parties were a hot ticket item at the ball. SJP rocked a bunch of boho-style bangles while good ol’ Katie Holmes played it safe with an icy trail of sparklers igniting her wrist and refining her look.

Chokers

Everyone’s favorite ’90s throwback was practically a red carpet prerequisite. Chloe Moretz, Selena Gomez and the like, seemed to be sporting delicate black chokers. Even for super A-lists like Rihanna who trailed along in a breathtaking fur-trimmed sun yellow cape, chokers were the perfect way to illuminate her neckline, finishing off her dramatic look with a delicate sparkle.

Drops

Tasseled drops were a fave amongst Bee Shaffer and Lizzy Caplan. While drops may be a great way to draw attention to one’s face, it’s the wispy movement and structure of their tasseled cousin that adds an extra dose of glitz and glamor.

Matching Bling

Matching earrings are a must, which Amal and Solange proved like no other! Both chose to wear more avant-garde and edgier designs which is why chic jewels were the perfect fit for what could have been one potential style conundrum.

Top Color: Red

We LOVED the red trend especially on Helen!  With her laser cut-out gown and medallion drops, Helen Mirren slayed the scene in this incredible color. Mirren’s look was the perfect balance of Haute Couture without overbearing.

Sheer Dresses

Even with Rihanna’s never ending silk trail and other fashion spectacles, the sheer drama were in those see-through ankle scrapers worn by JLo, Kim Kardashian West and Beyonce. The good thing about wearing next to nothing and being decked in crystals is, no need to wear jewelry right? Was it too much or too little? You vote!

Fashion Week Snapshots

Nailing down trends appearing at New York Fashion Week is akin to saying a bit of everything, with nothing on top.

Designers have been harking back to the 40s, 60s, 70s and 80s (the 50s are missing but we’re only halfway thru the week).

Feathers are floating down the runway, so are ruffles, skintight dresses, mini-mini skirts, high-waisted skirts, pencil belts, waist cinchers, chunky cardigans and delicate tops.

Feathers, together with a fondness for animal prints, have resulted in some heralding the onslaught of an ‘eco-chic’ trend; no matter how you name it, it’s a fashionable jungle out there.

Color-wise it’s been a somewhat easier task for trendsetters to narrow down the ‘palettes’ of the season. Green, blue and some ethereal jewel-tones are the splashes of spark seen gracing the catwalk. Black though is still a popular fail-safe, with black back as the ‘new black’.

If you’re not a feathery type of gal, then Marc Jacobs has been rocking the runway with his biker chic collection that has placed the humble zipper on a pedestal of praise. The zipper looked great – and rebellious enough for urban trendsetters.

Golden Gifts

We all know that gold is the color of the moment.

Golden dresses, golden shoes, golden bags and layers of dazzling, long golden chain necklaces are the fashionistas picks for winter warmers – but for some, not even being bedecked in gold is enough. Gold Xmas trees, gold phones, gold chocolates, even gold greeting cards are some of the everyday items undergoing a golden makeover this winter.

Japanese jeweler, Ginza Tanaka, famed for his penchant for all things gold, has created a couple of seasonal extravaganzas (all in gold of course). First there’s a 24 karat gold greeting card featuring a “pop-up” gold Christmas tree. If the $254,000 price tag for this card doesn’t seem to bad, then you probably won’t be to worried about the postage fee – the card does weigh 6 kg.

Tanaka, never a jeweler to think “small”, is also offering a larger version of the greeting card’s pop-up tree. A 21 kg tree of gold selling for $850,000.

Much cheaper, and certainly more practical, is the Nokia 8800 Sirocco Diamond Edition mobile phone. The phone, plated with 24-karat gold, features 100 mega of on-board memory and a 2 mega-pixel camera. The price – a bargain compared to Tanaka’s trees at $3,450.

For those who are looking for something more traditional, yet still golden, what could be better than “five gold rings”. A partridge in a pear tree doesn’t always cut it and ten lords-a-leaping are rather hard to find these days, but five stunning gold rings will beat swans-a-swimming hands down.
